Nino's Family Restaurant is the place to find a traditional Italian Christmas Eve Dinner Thursday - Christmas Flowers Italy

Now here is something different for the holidays.
Liliana Hintz and her staff at Nino's Family Restaurant, 1705 Columbus Ave., are hosting a traditional Italian christmas flowers italy Eve dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Called the Feast of the Seven Fishes, Liliana says it is known as LaVigilia and comes from the observance of La Vigilia di Natale, which means waiting for the birth of Christ.
There are still a few things I don't know, and this is one of them. Thankfully, Liliana offered some history on the diner.
The tradition of the dinner is to eat only fish on christmas flowers italy blogs Eve, and dinner must be over by midnight so people can attend midnight Mass to celebrate the birth of Christ.
As in times past, the meal must include seven fish selections, standing for the seven sacraments of the Catholic church.
The number also stands for the seven days of creation, seven sins of the world, seven hills of Rome, seven winds of Italy, seven wonders of the world and the seven days it took Mary and Joseph to travel to Bethlehem, says Liliana.
In biblical numerology, seven is a number of perfection. The traditional biblical number for divinity is three, and for earth is four and the combination of these numbers, seven, represents God on earth, or Jesus Christ.

A typical meal might include calamari or squid, baccala, a dry slat cod, shrimp, clams and mussels.
How interesting.
We can all find out more about this traditional celebration at the dinner. Tickets are $55 per person or $100 per couple, and reservations are needed by calling 893-0691.
